Vice President of Sales – Premium Electric 4W (India)

A leading global manufacturer of premium electric passenger vehicles is expanding rapidly in India and seeks a dynamic, strategic leader to serve as Vice President of Sales, India. Reporting to the Country/Regional CEO, this role will spearhead sales strategy, execution, and performance to establish the brand alongside top-tier EV players such as Tesla, Volvo, Audi, and others.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Sales – India will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve ambitious revenue targets and expand market share in the Indian EV market. This senior leadership role will oversee all sales operations, manage a high-performing sales team, build strategic partnerships, and foster strong customer relationships to position the company as a market leader. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sales Leadership

Develop and implement a targeted 4W EV sales strategy aligned with premium brand positioning.

Set and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and market-share goals.

Identify and prioritize key market segments, including urban

consumers, fleet operators, and government partnerships.

2. Team Leadership and Development

Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing sales team, including regional sales managers and dealership networks.

Recruit, train, and onboard sales professionals to ensure alignment with brand values and sales methodologies.

Foster a performance-driven culture, monitoring team progress against KPIs and providing coaching to enhance productivity.

3.B2B & Institutional Sales

Lead luxury consumer sales in metro markets, targeting tech-savvy, eco-conscious buyers.

Drive institutional fleet sales: corporates, government entities, fleet aggregators.

Negotiate complex deals with robust after-sales and service support.

4. Team Leadership & Culture Building

Recruit, manage, and coach a high-caliber sales force, including regional managers and dealer relations leads.

Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including dealerships, distributors, and channel partners, to expand sales network.

  • Collaborate with government bodies and industry associations to

leverage EV incentives and policies in India.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with charging infrastructure providers

and fleet operators to enhance market reach.

5. Customer & Partner Relationship Management

Build executive-level relationships with high-value individual and institutional clients.

Actively participate in sales negotiations to secure favorable terms and long-term loyalty.

Gather market feedback to refine product, pricing, and service offerings.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Marketing to craft premium brand campaigns and go-to-market launches.

Partner with Product teams to align vehicle features (range, affordability, after-sales) with India’s premium landscape.

Support Finance in forecasting, P&L oversight, and resource allocation to achieve sales objectives.

7. Market Intelligence & Reporting

Monitor competitor strategies (Tesla, Audi e‑tron, Volvo Recharge, BYD Premium), pricing, and innovations.

Provide accurate sales forecasting and pipeline tracking via CRM tools.

Stay informed on dynamic EV policy shifts and infrastructure growth

8. Operational Excellence & Compliance

Oversee sales budget deployment for optimal ROI.

Implement scalable sales processes aligned with global benchmarks.

Ensure full regulatory compliance and brand quality adherence across all operations.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.

Experience

12+ years in automotive sales, with ≥5 years in senior leadership (VP/Director).

Proven success with premium EV or combustion passenger vehicles in India.

Experience managing dealer networks and multi-layer sales teams

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.

Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Deep insights into India’s automotive and premium EV ecosystem.

Proficient in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and using data to guide decisions.

Strategic, adaptable thinker comfortable with fast-paced market dynamics.

Additional Requirements

Willingness to travel extensively across India and occasionally internationally.

Fluent in English; proficiency in Hindi or regional languages advantageous.

Preferred Experience

Direct experience with premium EV brands: Tesla, Volvo Recharge, Audi e‑tron, BYD Premium, Lucid, Polestar, etc.

Established networks among dealerships and government agencies.

Familiarity with FAME, PLI, and state-level EV policies
